Where does the time go!

We are well into the Christmas season and we are bursting with choir and orchestra concerts as well as promoting the new Christmas song for the Treetop Sisters. The girls have been interview for local television spots and also have done some Radio interviews. It always surprises me that they take anything that is put in there way with ease and no big deal, which I think is a great way to be. They have just always been around music and performing in some way, I think that this will be a great skill for whatever they do with their lives be it entertainment or public speaking anything that will give then confidence to communicate in their everyday lives.  Terry has been working around the clock to get press information to every Radio station that he can as well as working on graphics and download materials. He is definitely the power house behind this project and little do the girls know how much work goes into promoting a family run project. So every football game that is watched will also be accompanied by a laptop and some emails or Facebook posts.
Hoping that the end of the year will slow down enough that we can enjoy family and friends as well as give the girls a chance to gear up for the New Year and whatever that will bring for the Treetop Sisters.  Be sure to check out the website, Terry is always updating and keeping everyone informed. Way to go Dad !!!!

Growing to fast !

As we move into the changing season of fall we are busy with pumpkins and sorting out warmer clothes. Pearl is turning into our chef, which is great as I am not the best of cooks. Ruby is into her music and I hear songs emanating from her room. And Jade I think is going to be our computer programmer !!!!! i love to look back through photos as they seem to be growing at warp speed these days. As Halloween is around the corner I look forward to seeing what the girls come up with . I think the days of princesses are over and we are probably into zombies and vampires. Slow down please you are growing up too fast.
Halloween a few years ago

With we go from Kitty to Vampire this year ?

Christmas in July

Christmas in July! well ,when you work on another holiday song and need to have a new Christmas picture. Luckily we have a great friend who is a professional photographer and the girls are so comfortable around her. This made the session relaxed and fun !!! I love that the girls all have such individual styles.

Jade Turns 10!

Jade had her 10th birthday last month. I cannot believe that she is now in double digits. Especially, when I start to look back at all the photos of the girls singing and dancing from years past. But yes she is officially growing up and we as parents will just have to deal with it. The girls have very individual styles of music that they like to listen to and so I can only imagine that this is going to make for an interesting collaboration if they ever want to get into songwriting.

Back to the birthday girl…. She wanted to go to “High Rise” with is a trampoline place with one of her friends from school and her sisters and have an emoji cake. Love the child that does not have a detailed and lengthy birthday celebration planned. Cake and Fun, I don’t think you can do any better than that. I loved the bike helmet that I picked out for her, something that she had been eyeing for a long time. I love that Jade doesn’t go for what is “cool” but for what is fun! Cannot wait until next year and see what we will be doing for her birthday. Balloon ride, horseback riding trips up the Amazon, who knows… stay tuned.

Spring Break Treetop Sisters Style.

Spring break! So we are not going to Hawaii or Colorado to ski and in fact for a change (insert sarcasm) we are staying at home. When both parents are working that is what you have to do. So we came up with a list of what they girls would like to do, the list included going to the mall as Jade had some money burning a hole in her pocket with Build a Bear on it.

But as the week went on we had to get creative for our Facebook friends and so we came up with “photo shoot “ in the backyard and my personal favorite was “learn” how to use the washing machine !!!!

We did end up the week staying at a hotel with an indoor pool for the evening and the big surprise was going to our very first Rodeo.

It was wonderful and I would go back in a heartbeat. Even got a little teary when the national anthem was played and a young girl rode around the arena holding a huge flag.  I think we did well with our week of activities, who needs Hawaii anyway !!!!!!!!

Come Follow the Band.

The UPS man has been working overtime this past week, delivering instruments for the girls. We know have more guitars and basses in the house. I have ordered and extra set of ear plugs as Jade just gave us a demonstration on the drums…lessons… lessons…lessons.

No one is sleeping in this house!

The house was filled with music over the weekend as students from the musical theater class that I teach came in to record a song. I love it when there is some kind of creativity happening in the house; hope to have many more of those creative weekends. We will see if spring break leads to learning songs or just musical instruments gathering dust.

I hope that we are inspired to put down the electronics and help our souls to be more fulfilled. So a week of work and no dance in the evenings and children who are usually up at the crack of dawn and out the door these days. We will have to see if we all survive the week! Love hearing the music that the girls are listening too and the fact that we were never young ourselves and listened to any kind of relevant music, it makes me smile. I would hate to know what they think of our musical tastes, may have to dye my hair and get a nose ring to be relevant, ha!

Dancing Feet !!!

Dance fever has hit the house…. literally, we have shoes and costumes everywhere!  The 2016 dance completion season is now underway! I would like to say that we are totally prepared, but I think not. I am sure it will all come together by the time they take the stage, but who knows… and you know what? That is part of the fun.

We traveled for our first competition with shoes, tights, and costumes in hand. Jade is always so great to come along with us and share in the madness. I think for her the highlight is staying in a hotel and swimming in the pool.

The girls both had solo numbers this year and that was a little nerve-racking, to say the least. I like that they are not in the same category as they are not the same age. But still there is some sibling rivalry which I am sure is only natural. They each did a great job and came off the stage with a sense of achievement and also some points with which they could improve.

My mother was visiting from England and had the chance to see her granddaughters dance. It was like stepping back in time for her and me. I was so glad to have her there to share in the moment, and she was such a help. It is amazing what an extra pair of caring hands can do for you. She got to hang out with Jade and go swimming etc. This would be the way I would choose to spend all competitions in the future, but I guess we will just have to get our act together for the next one.
Great job girls and thank you for sharing the experience with me.
