Stepping Out Of The Comfort Zone

We have enjoyed delivering meals on wheels this last month, by the end of the month we knew all the people by name and what to expect at each delivery. One gentleman, whose  dogs wanted to greet the girls each time, and then the lady who was 101 telling us that her kids had hired a lady to come in and clean and that she just did not know what to do with herself. One lady had just come back from a stay in the hospital and we helped her get the microwave to work. It is so important to reach out in any way that you can in your community, for us this was just over an hour of our time and well worth it.

We made a hobbit cake for the girl’s book club today…. There will not be a photograph.. I thought that we did a great job but it did not look like it Pinterest counterpart. I am not known for my artistic baking skills but the girls had a great time helping and decorating. I think that I could have paid a professional to make it cheaper than buying all the ingredients.

After the cake adventure I think that we need to spend more time off the electronics and more time hands on crafts and sewing projects.

Getting Back To Speed !!!

Girls are tuning up for their upcoming performance at some of their favorite venues. We have stopped rehearsing at home; there are just too many distractions. Now we get to rehearse at the dance studio. This has been a great plus; mirrors and space seem to make all the difference on our outlook. Jade has decided that she would like to be our storyteller and has done a great job memorizing lines and learning choreography. Just could not be prouder of the girls. It was good to take the summer off and just be kids and not have to think about dance or Treetop sisters or any kind of regular schedule. But now as summer is over and fall is here we gradually add our layers of school and dance and music and Brownies and gymnastics…….

One thing that we have tried to think about is how we can help others and teach the girls to be helpers. We have been delivering meals on wheels and volunteering at church. It is important for us to help others and to feel that we can bring a little sunshine to others, which in turn brings some sunshine into our lives.

Look how time has flown.

I cannot believe that it has been so long since I added to my blog! Where has the time gone? Well we have had school, sickness the death of a Grandparent, dance competitions and classes. And all of this and more has filled our days.
Obviously our biggest sadness was the loss of my father in law, he loved his family and especially his grandchildren with such sweetness. So glad that the girls got to spend time with him and listen to his jokes and get chewing gum from him. We know that his wife of 65 years will miss him most of all.
