Locks of Love

The wonderful lady who is takes care of our hair told the girls last year about the organization called " locks of love." This is an amazing organization that uses to the donated hair to make wigs for cancer patients. This is something that the girls thought was a great thing to do and also Pearl had been asking for such a long time to get her hair cut,It was a little harder for Ruby to come to the decision. But in the end Ruby and Pearl gave up 9 inches of hair. Jade would have loved too but she did not have that much to give !!!! late bloomer. So she got to have a little trim to make her feel part of the action.

Once the cuts were made Pearl was over the
moon, Ruby did not know whether she had made the right decision !!!!! And just to add to that her hair has been the slowest to grow back.
We are very fortunate to have the coolest stylist out there. When we go the girls get to paint their nails and even make cookies sometimes as well as get cool colors in their hair.

Time For More Dance !

Time is slipping away from me this year!!! I am looking back on last years photo's that I have just downloaded from my phone ( I am sure nobody else does that) and see that we are about to be recital season. Last year the girls danced in all three shows on one day. That was a test of endurance if ever I saw one. But I must say that they gave all their energy to each and every performance and it did not hurt that they had a good supply of candy to keep them going all day, mind you the end of the day was not pretty. Jade always amazes me that sometimes she could care less about going to dance class but when she is on the stage she loves every minute of it.

Treetop Sisters Perform at Crystal Bridges Museum

When visiting NWA one of the must do's on your list of places to see is Crystal Bridges Museum. The museum was founded by Alice Walton of the Wal-mart family. It opened in 2011 and offers free admission to the public.
They have a number of live music events and the girls were lucky enough to be invited to participate in the pre-school series, The girls had an incredible time and loved being asked, it was definitely a highlight.

Crystal Bridges

Pearl is sound checking and getting ready to sing. Jade on the other hand is probably thinking of all the cool things to do in the children's art area after she finishes the performance. One of the fun things about this venue was the space that the girls and the audience had to work in. The preschoolers had no problem joining in the with the girls and busting a move !!! I think the girls learned some new moves. I on the other hand had lots of extra singers and they gave me lots of information on their pets and and animal sounds.

If you are ever in the area be sure to check it out!  http://crystalbridges.org/

Stepping Out Of The Comfort Zone

We have enjoyed delivering meals on wheels this last month, by the end of the month we knew all the people by name and what to expect at each delivery. One gentleman, whose  dogs wanted to greet the girls each time, and then the lady who was 101 telling us that her kids had hired a lady to come in and clean and that she just did not know what to do with herself. One lady had just come back from a stay in the hospital and we helped her get the microwave to work. It is so important to reach out in any way that you can in your community, for us this was just over an hour of our time and well worth it.

We made a hobbit cake for the girl’s book club today…. There will not be a photograph.. I thought that we did a great job but it did not look like it Pinterest counterpart. I am not known for my artistic baking skills but the girls had a great time helping and decorating. I think that I could have paid a professional to make it cheaper than buying all the ingredients.

After the cake adventure I think that we need to spend more time off the electronics and more time hands on crafts and sewing projects.

Getting Back To Speed !!!

Girls are tuning up for their upcoming performance at some of their favorite venues. We have stopped rehearsing at home; there are just too many distractions. Now we get to rehearse at the dance studio. This has been a great plus; mirrors and space seem to make all the difference on our outlook. Jade has decided that she would like to be our storyteller and has done a great job memorizing lines and learning choreography. Just could not be prouder of the girls. It was good to take the summer off and just be kids and not have to think about dance or Treetop sisters or any kind of regular schedule. But now as summer is over and fall is here we gradually add our layers of school and dance and music and Brownies and gymnastics…….

One thing that we have tried to think about is how we can help others and teach the girls to be helpers. We have been delivering meals on wheels and volunteering at church. It is important for us to help others and to feel that we can bring a little sunshine to others, which in turn brings some sunshine into our lives.

Look how time has flown.

I cannot believe that it has been so long since I added to my blog! Where has the time gone? Well we have had school, sickness the death of a Grandparent, dance competitions and classes. And all of this and more has filled our days.
Obviously our biggest sadness was the loss of my father in law, he loved his family and especially his grandchildren with such sweetness. So glad that the girls got to spend time with him and listen to his jokes and get chewing gum from him. We know that his wife of 65 years will miss him most of all.

First Release !!!!!!!!

Finally we have our first physical product for the Treetop Sisters, it has been a long time coming and we are so proud to have something in hand.

Nicki and the Crew

Nicki and the Crew is a CD single, which of course you can purchase from the web site www.treetopsisters.com ( shamless plug)

We are about to perform for our local MOPS group and last week we got to be helpers in the pre K room.
As you can see we had fun and all needed a nap once we got home !I was an active member of MOPS when the girls were young and what an incredible support to mothers with young children. Just those few hours a month retained my sanity.
